FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DYS partners with Burg on some things such as registration. We admire their registration processes, and they have a great existing platform, so we decided to use it. 

Baseball/Softball Registration Covers:  Jersey, Hat, Umpire fees, Use of Tyger River Fields, and Equipment (such as: tees, catcher's gear, balls). 

Tackle Football Registration Covers: Jersey, Padded Pants, Insurance, Professional Referee Fees, and Equipment. 

Cheer Registration Covers: Uniform & Pompoms

Baseball & Softball:

Opponents: Spartanburg County Rec Teams

Where: Practices and Games are generally held at Tyger River Park. However, occasionally a game or all-star tournaments may be held at another park owned by Spartanburg County. 

When: Practices and Games will fall Monday-Thursday. They can begin as early as 5:30pm but do not go longer than 9pm depending on the age group. 

Time Commitment (games & practices): T-ball: 1-hour 6U-8U: 1.5 hours, 10U-12U 2 hours. (Please note, games can run over depending on circumstance such as tiebreakers.)

Cheerleading:

Where: We aim to keep our cheerleaders at Dorman High School for practices and games. However, depending on how many teams we have, we may use other schools within the District for practices. 

When: Typically, Mondays, Tuesdays, and/or Thursdays 

Time Commitment (games & practices): 1.5 hours. 

Football:

Where: We aim to keep our football teams at Dorman High School for practices and games. However, depending on how many teams we have, we may use other schools within the District for practices. 

When: Tuesdays, and/or Thursdays 

Time Commitment (games & practices): 1.5-2 hours.

Equipment Needed (Parent Provided): Bat, Helmet, Cleats, Cup, Glove, Pant (Long or Knickers are acceptable) 

Cheerleading:

Equipment Needed (Parent Provided): White Shoes 

Football: 

Equipment Needed (Parent Provided): Mouthpiece, Helmet, Shoulder Pads, Cleats
